What Is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic, or botulinum toxin A, relaxes muscle movement via injections to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Being the number one nonsurgical treatment in the USA, Botox provides a simple, minimally invasive, and completely safe method to look your very best.

Common areas of treatment include, but are not limited to, wrinkles around the corners of the eyes (“crows feet”), forehead lines, between the eyes (the dreaded “11s”), and around the lips. Botox may also be injected directly into the chewing (masseter) muscle to help achieve a slimmer look, or into the vertical bands of the neck to reduce signs of aging.

Know that men can also achieve a relaxed, refreshed, and wrinkle-free look with Botox too (#brotox), who often require higher dosages due to stronger muscle action, in general.

“I’m afraid of needles!”

The most common concern amongst prospective Botox candidates proves to be the fear of needles time after time. Although surely an understandable thought that pops into one’s mind — perhaps reinforced by undesirable fear and pain caused by other providers in the past — we, at DOCTR Derma Care, take patient concerns seriously. Practicing modern injection techniques, utilizing tiny (ultra fine insulin gauge) needles, and providing supportive care help ensure minimal pain and discomfort during and post-procedure.

Noticeable improvements may be appreciated in the forehead and “11” lines within the first week of treatment

At DOCTR Derma Care, the Botox visit begins with the consultation to understand patient desires and expectations, and answer any questions the patient may have. The expert opinion and any possible adjustments made by the medical provider are made at this time to maximize results.

Then, the provider begins the patient history in order to gain insight into the past and current issues, specifically noting any rare illnesses or medications that may interact with Botox. A roadmap of injection sites lays out the plan of action with an explanation of expected improvements over weeks to months.

Once the information is reviewed, we are now ready to inject! Results can be seen within the first week.
